The Cherish Series is a unique project by Photographer Ian Mitchinson.

The project is simple, it is a special collection of themed and specific image assignments focusing on something that we in life Cherish.  Is it each other, is it the moment, is it the dress? what is it?  Its really up to you.

The goal of this project is to form a collection of imagery to push the limits of portrait photography and also to focus on something specific.  I want to find people that are interested in doing a special photo assignment with me and my team of artists.  There are no limits to the Cherish Series.  It can be fun, it can be deep, it can be anything really, anything that you Cherish.  Maybe you were unable to find the photographer that you wanted on your wedding day, maybe your photography wasn’t to your liking, or maybe you want to go deeper and explore something that you simply will cherish forever.  The culmination of this series will be in the form of a coffee table book of beautiful and thought provoking imagery of people in love, for people in love.

Each assignment will be done in studio and on certain locations (depending on the assignment).  It will include make up by Sebastine Pepler, outfits if needed, and whatever else is required to achieve the final result.  In some cases we may need to take a series of images and then retouch and edit to achieve the intended result.  In this limitless Endeavour the whole idea is to create pure art, with a theme that can be Cherished forever.

Some ideas that are floating around and that I am interested in exploring are the Renaissance, Flight, Eternity, The Earth, and I want to combine this with you and your most loved one.  This is something new and I need you to work with me to make something that you never thought you could be a part of.

Included in all the Cherish shoots will be Fine Art Prints, with the option of world class framing and also my special custom designed fine art albums.  Of course their is cost involved in creating this shoot, but I have decided not to make this a money making operation and rather an experiential project.  I do have a basic fee for the shoot, and depending on whether we need to go further and hire specific outfits or equipment, I am doing my very best to make this affordable so that you can take part in this special project.

My photography is all about being unique and being a cut above the rest.  Sure, others will try and copy our ideas but what we are doing is so unique that it isn’t really worth it.  You may have heard of after wedding shoots like “Trash the Dress” or “TTD Session”.  I couldn’t  think of anything more tacky and contradicting to what a wedding and a special bond is all about.  Why would you want to trash something that symbolizes what you Cherish?

I could go on about how much I love photography and my accomplishments and how talented I am with a camera in hand, but those bio pages on websites always freak me out a little and there’s always that question of whether to write it in the 1st person or the 3rd person and make out that someone else wrote it.

Hopefully you’ve got a sense of my photography style from my portfolio and gossip pages on this site so I’d rather tell you a little about who I am and my life.

I live in Cape Town in Blouberg with my very gorgeous baby boy, Jude and hugely patient husband, Simon. We’ve been married for 5 years.

I’m a complete dog person and have 2 crazy and constantly adoring black labradors, Mocha and Java. Yes, I love coffee too.

After having lived in England for 6 years, I’m happy to be living back in Africa with all it’s craziness. The wind in Cape Town tends to drive me nuts but the rest of this city is pretty amazing.

I completely love the fact that my job revolves around looking for the beautiful details and moments in life and for trying to bring out the best sides of people. I have loads of fun doing what I do.

I don’t particularly like rules. I love being around people but am sometimes a little shy which is probably why I like to be behind the camera.

Hi, I am Eddie Cronje, a photographer based in Oudtshoorn, South Africa. Welcome to my website. I started this website in May 2008 and would like to show my work to all interested. You can buy the photos from the site, sending me an e-mail with the number and the size of the photo you preferred. Prizes and sizes are available on the website. As you can see there is quite a lot of photos and several genres, this is because I am a little bit mad and snap everything that I can lay my eyes on. I hope you will excuse my paranoia but I cannot pass a beautifull motorbike, athlete, sunset or church without snapping it. How it all started? If I may tell you, I have a hobby of making videos and converting VHS to DVD when some time ago a small petite woman pushed herself into my life when I bought a pie at her shop. She asked me to put a VHS on DVD for her, I took the tapes convert it and the next moment I was taking photos at her marathons and races. Today all her events are available on my website and we’ve done a sport calender for 2009 and we are planning several exciting events together (I have recentlyupgrade my old Nikon D70s to a D700). Her name is Sanet Wentzel and boy can this girl organize. I hope you will love, spending time browsing through all the photos. “Hey there! I’m full time professional wedding photojournalist based in Knysna, the heart of the beautiful Garden Route. Covering weddings all across South Africa, I really do enjoy travelling and meeting up with new people and of course engaged and ‘about to get married’ couples.

My ’style’ of shooting is very much behind the scenes, I love capturing the day as it happens, no fancy tricks, no fake poses, just real, raw imagery. I always tell clients, forget about me, enjoy YOUR wedding day, that’s what matters here, and at the end of the day, the images always show it. I try not direct the couple, or get in the way at all, if direction is needed, no problem, but you can expect me to say ‘take a walk, relax and have fun!’

Along with capturing natural moments, I put a lot of thought and effort into image quality, it’s one thing having a great shot, but if you are not able to view it at a decent size without it being sharp or if the color is off, it’s a job half done. There is an ever growing gap between well shot, creative, abstract photography and overnight ‘pro’ rubbish”

I Do Photography
