The Cherish Series is a unique project by Photographer Ian Mitchinson.

The project is simple, it is a special collection of themed and specific image assignments focusing on something that we in life Cherish.  Is it each other, is it the moment, is it the dress? what is it?  Its really up to you.

The goal of this project is to form a collection of imagery to push the limits of portrait photography and also to focus on something specific.  I want to find people that are interested in doing a special photo assignment with me and my team of artists.  There are no limits to the Cherish Series.  It can be fun, it can be deep, it can be anything really, anything that you Cherish.  Maybe you were unable to find the photographer that you wanted on your wedding day, maybe your photography wasn’t to your liking, or maybe you want to go deeper and explore something that you simply will cherish forever.  The culmination of this series will be in the form of a coffee table book of beautiful and thought provoking imagery of people in love, for people in love.

Each assignment will be done in studio and on certain locations (depending on the assignment).  It will include make up by Sebastine Pepler, outfits if needed, and whatever else is required to achieve the final result.  In some cases we may need to take a series of images and then retouch and edit to achieve the intended result.  In this limitless Endeavour the whole idea is to create pure art, with a theme that can be Cherished forever.

Some ideas that are floating around and that I am interested in exploring are the Renaissance, Flight, Eternity, The Earth, and I want to combine this with you and your most loved one.  This is something new and I need you to work with me to make something that you never thought you could be a part of.

Included in all the Cherish shoots will be Fine Art Prints, with the option of world class framing and also my special custom designed fine art albums.  Of course their is cost involved in creating this shoot, but I have decided not to make this a money making operation and rather an experiential project.  I do have a basic fee for the shoot, and depending on whether we need to go further and hire specific outfits or equipment, I am doing my very best to make this affordable so that you can take part in this special project.

My photography is all about being unique and being a cut above the rest.  Sure, others will try and copy our ideas but what we are doing is so unique that it isn’t really worth it.  You may have heard of after wedding shoots like “Trash the Dress” or “TTD Session”.  I couldn’t  think of anything more tacky and contradicting to what a wedding and a special bond is all about.  Why would you want to trash something that symbolizes what you Cherish?

I could go on about how much I love photography and my accomplishments and how talented I am with a camera in hand, but those bio pages on websites always freak me out a little and there’s always that question of whether to write it in the 1st person or the 3rd person and make out that someone else wrote it.

Hopefully you’ve got a sense of my photography style from my portfolio and gossip pages on this site so I’d rather tell you a little about who I am and my life.

I live in Cape Town in Blouberg with my very gorgeous baby boy, Jude and hugely patient husband, Simon. We’ve been married for 5 years.

I’m a complete dog person and have 2 crazy and constantly adoring black labradors, Mocha and Java. Yes, I love coffee too.

After having lived in England for 6 years, I’m happy to be living back in Africa with all it’s craziness. The wind in Cape Town tends to drive me nuts but the rest of this city is pretty amazing.

I completely love the fact that my job revolves around looking for the beautiful details and moments in life and for trying to bring out the best sides of people. I have loads of fun doing what I do.

I don’t particularly like rules. I love being around people but am sometimes a little shy which is probably why I like to be behind the camera.

For me it essential to meet with my clients before they can even decide if they want to use me as their photographer. Why? I need to find a   connection with them, I need to be able to capture their emotions and their personalities not just their faces. Some people are conserved in the way they want me to capture their wedding, while some are open to any suggestion and a very modern approach to wedding     photography. I prefer the latter. My style? Simple, yet interesting. It is important that my clients are relaxed and at ease. Jurgens Photography

After working for six years in the growing and callcenter industry, I decided that it was time to follow my dream of starting my business as photographer. This was about two years ago and I specialize now in on location portrait and event photography. This includes work for big companies (Anglo American South Africa, BMW Financial Services..) and small business and coaches (Cath Duncan from Mine Your Resources etc.).
I also enjoy working with families and children on location. In this case location, often includes the beach and the mountain, but also family homes.
When I am not photographing, you will find me running on the mountain and often enough the photo bug catches me and photograph with my cellphone along the run.

My style leans towards a fusion of Reportage taken in a journalistic style, and naturally posed photo’s of intimate details. Most of my inspiration for my photography comes from the cinamatography in foreign films combined with my love of travelling and meeting new people.

Paul Roos Photography

Paul Roos studied photography in 1999 at Suzette du Plooi School of Practical Photography. Since then he has worked as a freelance photographer, in South Africa as well as countries as England, Kosovo and New Zealand, documenting war, landscape and cultural events.

In 2006 opened a studio in Bronkhorstpruit where he specialized in the following areas:
