During 2008 Johnathan was invited by one of the departments of the University of South Africa to compile a photography course for beginners in digital photography to present to the department professors. Based on this first course, Johnathan has developed the three different course options available on this website.

The courses were designed to equip you with theory, practical information, tips and techniques that are both aimed at starting you out in digital photography and giving you a platform for taking creative control of your photography.

The courses are presented at Johnathan’s private studio in Bedfordview. Group sizes are limited to approximately 10 people to ensure that there is enough time for some one-on-one attention.

Private training sessions can also be booked for small groups and individuals.

You don’t need any photographic experience to enroll for a course – some experience will however be an advantage.

Please note the following specific requirements to enroll:

· You must have a Digital SLR (digital single lens reflex) camera for the course.

· Your camera must have a MANUAL function (i.e. the option to manually set the shutter speed and aperture).

· Note that the manual for each course session is provided on CD in PDF format. You will need a notebook computer to follow course notes during the classroom sessions and you may choose to print your course notes prior to each in-the-field practical training session.
